More Than A Dozen Fisker Karma Hybrids Caught Fire And Exploded In New Jersey Port After Sandy

jalopnik -- Our source tells us they were “first submerged in a storm surge and then caught fire, exploded.” This wouldn’t be the first time the vehicles, which use a small gasoline engine to charge batteries that provide energy to two electric motors, had an issue with sudden combustion.

The vehicle, despite only being in limited production, has already experienced numerous fires due to equipment failures and electrical shorts. How, exactly, they caught fire after being submerged in sea water is unclear. It’s possible the salt water caused a short that led to a fire.

More Than A Dozen Fisker Karma Hybrids Caught Fire And Exploded In New Jersey Port After Sandy? High voltage and sea water do Not mix, something will happen and it will not be very good either! There is some BAD Fisker Karma with this vehicle. *A new electric submarine on the prowl but it's not very stealthy!
There's still a ways to go before EV's and Inbreds can hold their own in this economy and really prove they are worth it.
My current vehicle was paid off many years ago and I don't need any car payments now! I will drive my current vehicle into the ground before buying anything new, used, EV, Inbred, diesel, hydrogen, alternative fuel, CNG, concept and certainly not a Prius, Tesla, Leaf, Volt or a Fiskar Karma Inbred!
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

That some of them didn't burn up suggests arson on a vehicle, which triggered fires in the vehicles parked next door.

So there should be a label that states; CAUTION: this vehicle may burst into flames if soaked in salt water. Right. Got it.
